- PA passes three bills amid Opposition walk-out
“The option to put the top leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, including Chairman Imran Khan, behind the before November 2 can be exercised by the government,” Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan said while talking to reporters outside the Punjab Assembly on Monday.
“The matter of Panama Leaks is sub-judice as Supreme Court has issued notices but Imran Khan is trying to politicise the issue,” he said, adding that the PTI chairman had announced to block the federal capital on November 2 and he had also started holding large public gatherings in different cities to pull massive crowd. According to Rana Sana, Shaikh Rasheed was inciting Imran Khan and had repeatedly called for bloodshed. “No armed person will be allowed to enter the federal territory on November 2 from Punjab,” the law minister claimed.
Earlier in the day, Parliamentary Secretary for Home Mahar Ijaz Ahmad Achlana could not give satisfactory answers related to his department in the House and Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan urged him to come to the house after full preparation. “It is ridiculous that parliamentary secretary is not in a position to answer the questions asked by the lawmakers and is asking for fresh questions,” an independent lawmaker from Faisalabad (PP-58) Ehsan Riaz Fatyana said. It is pertinent to mention here that the parliamentary secretary could not give answers asked by the parliamentary leader of Jamat-e-Islami Dr Waseem Akhtar (PP-271), Amjad Ali Javed (PP-86), Alia Aftab (W-338) and Ayesha Javed (W-317).
“The government has started preparing the lists of PTI workers to arrest them before November 2,” Leader of the Opposition Mian Mehmood-ur-Rashid said, while speaking on a point of order. He said the workers of PTI would reach Islamabad at any cost despite the hindrances created by the government. “The government will be responsible if our protest becomes violent,” he said. ‘Go Nawaz Go’ slogans were raised from the Opposition Benches before the walk-out by the PTI. The house passed three bills in the absence of Opposition during the government business.
‘The Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2016 (Bill number39 of 2016’, ‘The Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill 2016 (Bill number 31 of 2016’ and ‘The Punjab Restriction on Employment of Children Bill 2016 (Bill number 33 of 2016’ were passed during the government business. Moreover, The Punjab Halal Development Agency Bill 2016 was introduced in the house. All the bills were presented by Excise and Taxation Minister Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman.
The session was prorogued for indefinite period.
