Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while addressing the joint session of the parliament Wednesday (today) said that Burhan Wani’s martyrdom brought Kashmir to turning point.
He further said that Kashmiri youth have taken it upon themselves to carry on the movement of freedom against Indian aggression and atrocities .
“World powers need to ensure that UN resolutions on Kashmir should be implemented in letter and spirit,” he added.
Talking about the Uri attack PM said that without any investigation within a few hours India put blame on Pakistan for the attack. Through this one can see what Indian motives are.
“Pakistan have done everything to make India come to the dialogue table, but india did not let it happen,” adding that, our efforts were thwarted over and over again.”
National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq opened the session by welcoming Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who is present in the speaker gallery.
PPP lawmakers greeted the announcement with applause and thumping of desks.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was the first to address the lawmakers present in the assembly on the Kashmir issue.
The session is being conveyed as part of government’s efforts to take political leadership into confidence over the matters of national security amid Indian aggression on the Line of Control (LoC) and violence in Indian-held Kashmir.
Earlier, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has boycotted the session of the Parliament to reaffirm national resolve for safeguarding the sovereignty as well as reiterating the support to the people of Indian Held Kashmir (IHK).
PTI Chief Imran Khan on Monday announced that his party was boycotting today’s joint session saying “their presence would be like endorsing Nawaz as the prime minister, which his party would not do.”
Imran Khan further said that the PM had lost the moral justification and was trying to use the Kashmir issue to save himself from the Panama Leaks investigations.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has criticised PTI’s decision to boycott the joint sitting when the country needed to convey a message of unity to India.
Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said the boycott is a sign of Imran’s mental bankruptcy. The minister said his attitude showed that he is deprived of understanding the importance of national issues.
