Speakers at a peace conference have stressed the need of unity and brotherhood, especially in the holy month of Muharram.
“Law and order is not a regional but a global issue which is most affecting the common man,” said the speakers during the peace conference held under the aegis of World Council of Religions Pakistan in Royal Palm here the other day.
The conference included leaders from all the sects including Brelvi, Deobandi, Ahl-e-Hadith, Shia besides Christians and government officials.
They included Hafiz Muhammad Nauman Hamid (Executive Director World Council of Religions), Dr Raghib Naeemi (Principal Jamia Dar-ul-Uloom Naeemiya), Allama Syed Qazi Niyaz Hussain Naqvi (Vice president Wifaq ul Madaris Al Shia and vice administrator Jamaa Muntazir, Lahore), Nawazish Ali (Secretary at Ministry of Religious Affairs in Government of Punjab), Dr Tahir Raza Bukhari (Director General at Ministry of Religious Affairs), Muhammad Yaseen Zafar (Secretary general at Wifaq ul Madaris Salafiya), Zia Ullah Shah Bukhari (Fazil Madina University), Dr Muhammad Hussain Akbar (Chairman Mihaj-ul-Hussain, member Quran Board, Punjab) and others.
Director Punjabi Parchar, Ahmed Raza and Drama writer and Producer Amir Raza also addressed the moot.
The participants of the conference urged all to respect the sanctity of Muharram-ul-Haram, saying this month is revered by all the religions and sects equally.
Calling for harmony and cohesion among all the segments of society, the speakers also stressed depreciating anti-peace elements.

In a handout carrying multiple points, the inter-sect provincial peace conference noted that Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and Hindus have equal human rights.
They also called upon the government to enhance the security during the month of Muharram.
