Rs21b PC-1 approved for cancer hospital’s construction in capital

The Ministry of Health approved PC-1 to the tune Rs 21 billion for construction of a 500-bed cancer hospital in Islamabad.

Sources said that the Health Ministry had evolved PC-1 amounting to Rs 21 billion for a cancer hospital project in federal capital in the light of a feasibility report. The Ministry has formally approved it.

The Health Ministry had issued letter to Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman a few times for the acquisition of land for cancer hospital. The letter said that 20 to 25 acres land be provided in suitable area for this hospital which should be within the access of a common man. The CDA has not given any reply in this regard so far.

Sources said that Rs 300 million have been allocated in the current fiscal year’s budget for the construction of cancer hospital. The feasibility study of the project has been worked out by MS Progressive Consultants through bidding. The feasibility report contains cost of construction, medical equipments, human resource and cost of running the hospital.
