PAC directs NADRA to address Pakhtun’s CNIC renewal issues

The sub-committee of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Thursday directed the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) to address CNIC renewal issues of the Pakhtuns, who are living in Pakistan since generations.

The committee said that Pakhtuns face problems in the renewal of their CNIC cards which can be harmful for the national unity.

The sub-committee said that due to current verification of finger print system, citizens and government is facing embarrassment before different institutions of the country, adding that a policy should be formulated to further improve this system.

The committee also expressed dissatisfaction over the behaviour of NADRA officials. The committee directed that the NADRA chairman should ensure his presence in future.

Briefing the committee, the NADRA deputy chairman said that ID cards of 45 per cent adults have been verified till now. He informed the committee that NADRA will re-verify 106 million CNICs.

He told that during the verification process, only the fake CNICs would be cancelled and after this, the CNIC would be issued to the genuine citizens of Pakistan.

He informed the PAC that NADRA has its offices in all Tehsils of the country and mobile vans are also covering the areas where its offices do not exist. He said that NADRA has introduced access of online family registration certificate.
