Quetta attack: Lawyers observes strike after deadline’s expiry

Following the announcement from Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), the legal fraternity of Karachi boycotted the courts to protest the terror attack in Quetta that claimed over 70 lives.

The PBC had given the deadline to the federal and provincial governments to arrest the culprits involved in the attack till August 19. After the expiry of the deadline, the PBC had decided to go on strike and hold a protest demonstration in front of the parliament house.

The lawyers’ bodies in Sindh including Sindh Bar Council, Karachi Bar Association, Malir Bar Association and the Sindh High Court Bar Association endorsed the strike call.

At least 70 people were killed and several others received injuries in an attack in Civil Hospital, Quetta where the lawyers’ community of the city was gathered to receive the body of lawyer leader Bilal Anwar Kasi who was killed earlier in the day.
