The Heath Ministry decided to hand over Polio Eradication Programme to private sector, after they have failed to achieve the required targets.

An official on the condition of anonymity informed that these emergency initiatives have been taken by the government after they have failed to achieve the required targets after spending billions of rupees on the project.

During the first phase, the pilot programme of five districts of Punjab, including Jhang, Kanewal, Lodhran, Chakwal and Pakpattan would be handed over to a private firm. Moreover, the private firm would also be taking services of government officials and employees working in relevant districts.

The authorities have formulated a list of vaccines and employees and have also completed paperwork which would be handed over to the private firm.
