In a connection to Independence Day celebrations at Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC), a portrait competition entitled ‘Heroes of Pakistan’ among students was organised on Tuesday.
The students made the portraits of Heroes of Pakistan Movement like Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Dr Allama Iqbal, Nawab Saleemullah Khan, Sher-e-Bangal Fazal-e-Haq, Fatima Jinnah, Hafeez Jalandhari, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and many others which were put on display at RAC art gallery.
Member Punjab Assembly Lubna Rehan Pirzada accompanied by Naheed Manzoor and RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed inaugurated the one day portrait exhibition. Waqas Ahmed bagged first position in the competition by making a portrait of Jinnah, Faraz Hyder secured second position by making portrait of Fazal-e-Haq, Neman Khalid got third position by making portrait of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan while Inshra Tariq remained fourth by making portrait of Jalandhari.
Addressing at the prize distribution ceremony, MPA Pirzada said that Pakistan is the result of sacrifices of our ancestors and whatever gratitude we show to God is less than his blessings. She said that RAC conducted this competition to get the youth recognised with Pakistan Movement which is an appreciable step.
Manzoor said that Pakistan is nowadays facing some challenges but unity is the best source to overcome these challenges. RAC Resident Director Ahmed said RAC would celebrate Independence Day till August 14 with national zeal and stage play ‘Putar Pakistan’ on August 10, Mehfil-e-Mushaira presided by Prof Anwar Masood on August 11, stage play ‘Hum Zinda Qaum Hain’ on August 12, stage play ‘Salam Pakistan’ on August 13 and musical night will be arranged on August 14.
