A police operation conducted under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations and Potohar SP failed to arrest a mysterious group which attacks women and young girls in the jurisdiction of Morgah Police Station.

However, the police arrested 41 people, including 18 suspects. At least 23 people are those who have not registered themselves under Tenant Act in the local police stations.

A team of law enforcement agencies comprising elite and police forces with three reserved contingents under the supervision of SSP Operations Irfan Tariq and Potohar SP Atique Tahir carried out operation in Kotha Kalan. The forces completely sealed the area and carried a thorough search operation but failed to arrest the wanted man.

Arrest of mysterious attacker, who attacked at least 18 women and girls in different incidents, has become a challenge for Rawalpindi Police. Taking as a causal case of attack to different incidents, police is hesitant to register all cases against a specific attacker.

A mysterious attacker assaults women, young girls and small kids at night with a knife. In a fresh incident, the attacker injured two nurses of Fauji Foundation Hospital of which Anum succumbed to injuries in the hospital. Samar Razaq was also injured in the same day while ten-year old Noor Fatima received injuries last week. The other injured was also in precarious condition, according to hospital authorities.

The perpetrators have wounded several women in the vicinity and the police are already on a hunt for them, officials say.

Reports said that women in the vicinity had come under such attacks in the past, but the attacks stopped following arrest of a number of suspects.

Last week, such assaults were reported again after a hiatus of a few months, with a number of females wounded by the unidentified perpetrators.
