The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has rejected the application filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, citing insufficient evidence presented by the party.

In a brief but clear statement, the NAB has said that it has the authority to close an enquiry against an individual, but does not have authority to reopen a case which has been closed. It said that action cannot be taken against without evidence and based on mere rumours and complaints. The PTI has been unable to prove any allegations against Ishaq Dar.

PTI had filed an application with the accountability watchdog against Dar, alleging that he was responsible for money laundering worth $1.2 billion and illegal assets beyond his means. The case was filed on July 25 to reopen investigations again him.
