Punjab to enhance share in international livestock trade

Punjab government has planned to enhance its share in international livestock trade and a series of steps are being taken to get the benefit from the potential of the livestock sector.

A senior official of the provincial livestock department told the news agency that billions of rupees had been allocated during the next financial year for the promotion of this sector.

He said the government was paying full attention to the development of livestock and dairy farming as per the vision of chief minister Punjab.

He said that livestock and dairy farming was of paramount importance in strengthening the national economy and that’s why the government was implementing a comprehensive roadmap for its improvement.

He said that targets have been fixed for this sector which would be achieved at every cost.

“The concerned institutions have been directed to work hard in a coordinated manner,” he said, and added, “With the uplift of the livestock sector, poverty and unemployment problems could be overcome.”

The majority of the population of Punjab is associated with livestock sector and the goal of self-sufficiency can be achieved with the promotion of this sector, he added.
