A report has been sought by Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday from Punjab government, district administration and Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) over holding protests on Mall Road despite court’s orders.
Justice Sajid Mahmood Sethi heard the case in which the plaintiff’s lawyer stated that in 2012, the court had imposed a ban on protesting on Mall Road but no implementation has been done so far.
He said the local administration has attempted contempt of court by allowing political and other parties to demonstrate on Mall Road.
During the hearing, chief traffic police officer recorded his statement and said that the district government gives permission of holding rallies on Mall Road after which the court asked the higher officials to submit their report in the case.
Moreover, the hearing has been adjourned until August 1.
