A statement from the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday stated that Pakistan has sought more evidence from India in connection with Mumbai attack case.
Addressing the weekly press briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakariya further said that the country’s armed forces supported the democratic process.
Harmony existed between the civil and military leadership of Pakistan, the spokesperson added.
Regarding the Mumbai attack Nafees said that Pakistan has written a letter to India in this regard, however, no response has been received from the other side yet.
He said that the only way to resolve tensions between India and Pakistan was through dialogue.
The foreign office spokesperson termed Pakistan’s inclusion into the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation as a victory of the foreign office’s policy. He also expressed disappointment at the loss of life at the recent Istanbul international airport attack in Turkey, which killed 41 people and injured more than 200.
When asked about Afghan refugees’ stay in Pakistan, he confirmed that their registration deadline has been extended by six months.
The foreign office spokesperson also said that Pakistan wanted the Afghan refugees to return to Afghanistan officially. For this purpose, Pakistan wanted serious negotiations with Afghanistan and the United Nations, he said. He further disclosed that the date for Afghan refugees’ stay in Pakistan has been extended to December 31.
The spokesperson also confirmed that American senator John McCain would soon visit Pakistan.
