The Rawalpindi district food department has cancelled the quota of three flour mills for selling substandard flour.
District Food Controller Ejaz Siyal said that the food department had collected flour samples from 92 flour mills and sent it to the laboratory for a test. In the light of the laboratory test result, flour of Bakhtawar Flour Mills Taxila, Al-Naveed Flour Mills Rawat and Al-Khizria Flour Mills Dhok Elahi Bakhsh was found to be substandard and their quota has been cancelled.
He said that separately four mills were fined Rs 400,000 including Hassan, Mahnoor, New York and Al-Latif flour mills after they supplied substandard flour to the market. Fines amounting to Rs 400,000 were imposed on 22 flour mills for different reasons, he said.
