The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday sought comments from the ministry of interior for not removing Ayyan’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL) despite its earlier order.
The SHC bench, headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, was hearing another contempt of court petition filed by super model Ayyan Ali requesting the court to initiate contempt proceedings against the FIA, interior ministry, and immigration officials for not complying with its directives.
The court issued notices to the respondents directing them to submit their respective comments on 23rd June 2016. The petitioner submitted that her name was not removed yet from the ECL despite the court’s earlier directions. This act by the interior ministry was the contempt of the court and proceedings should be initiated against them, she prayed.
The model was barred from leaving the country on Wednesday by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The agency had stopped her when she was about to fly for Dubai after her name was removed from the ECL on the SHC’s directives. When she reached Karachi Airport on Wednesday to travel abroad, she came to know that her name had been re-inserted in the list. She kept the SHC’s order in hand and showed it on the counter but to no avail.
