Gang of Afghan dacoits busted in Islamabad

Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Islamabad police busted a gang of Afghan dacoits and recovered weapons from their possession.

According to details, a dacoity occurred in the house of a Chinese person named Zheng Zhaori residing at Sector F-6 Islamabad on February 22, 2016. Four dacoits looted Rs 3.8 million and two mobile sets following which an FIR was registered at Kohsar Police Station.

Following this incident, SP Investigation Capt (r) Muhmmad Ilyas assigned the task to SIU team comprising of SI Shams-ul-Akber, ASI Suleman Shah, Constables Waseem Iqbal, Ali Asghar, Sajid Khan, Hamid Shah and Shaheen Iqbal to trace out the case.

The team worked on the case using intelligence and technical assistance following which it traced the gang of dacoits identified as Mustafa Afghani gang comprising of five to six dacoits.  After hectic and professional efforts, the team apprehended the gang leader Ghulam Mustafa, a resident of Jalalabad, Afghanistan.

During the preliminary investigation, he confessed involvement in dacoity at the house of Chinese national and others at sectors F-7, F-6, F-10, G-9 and H-13.

All the other members of the gang are Afghans and they used to come in groups from Afghanistan via Torkham Border to Islamabad using a rented car. They used to randomly select F or G sectors, target houses and take away all the looted articles to Afghanistan.
