The National Accountability Bureau on Wednesday arrested Saleem Shah, a key accused of the Balochistan corruption scandal case.

Shah was the administrator of Khaliqabad Kalat Municipal Committee.

“NAB has also seized his properties in Quetta and Karachi’s DHA worth billions of rupees,” said Shakoor Khan, spokesman for NAB.

Shah was arrested following cancellation of his protective bail from the Balochistan High Court. The accused was brought to NAB’s regional headquarters for interrogation and would be produced before the accountability court on Thursday.

The accountability court also handed over former secretary finance Mushtaq Raisani for another 14 days remand to NAB.

NAB had recovered more than Rs 730 million from the residence of Balochistan Finance Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani. Following Raisani’s arrest and the recovery of embezzled money, the provincial finance adviser Khalid Langove immediately offered his resignation from the post.
