The worst affected areas include Metroville, Zia Colony, Mominabad and Frontier Colony where water is supplied after two months. A shopkeeper, Aurangzaib, told PPI that their miseries had multiplied as their turn for water comes after 60 days, while their area was also hit by load shedding. “In this situation, we purchase at least four time water tanker during this period with high costs.” He also said that the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) had launched a free tanker service but the area people were not getting sufficient water to pass life.

Another resident at Metroville area, Fareedullah told this correspondent that the provisional government and elected representative of Metroville had once again failed to provide water and other basic necessaries. Like many areas of the metropolis, Metroville suffer severe water and power crises.

An engineer at District West, Ovais Malik, told PPI that due to shortage of rainfall in the region, Hub Dam had reached its dead level. As a result, the water board was facing hurdles in providing water to the Karachiites, he added.

Union Council No 4 Metroville’s Chairmen Abdul Samad told PPI that all illegal water connections in Metroville area had been cut off by the KWSB officials. He said they were seeking to provide basic needs, including water, to the people.
