The recent news about the street crime decline in Lahore is a respite for all city dwellers who always feel threatened at the hands of criminals. The police data shows that since the Dolphin Force began patrolling the metropolitan, street crimes have dropped drastically. The official statistics show that the city has witnessed almost 50 percent decrease in the incidents of street robberies since this smart patrolling police started performing its duties. It is pertinent to mention here that the inspiration for such a force came to Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif from Turkey as the Dolphin police was initially established in 1973 in Istanbul Turkey. This force has been created with the vision to safe and secure Lahore by controlling street crimes with the help of state of the art technology and human skill.

Since it is the responsibility of government to control crime and maintain law and order situation therefore, the establishment of Dolphin Force is a landmark achievement of the government to wipe out terrorists and criminals from the provincial capital. Keeping in view the rise in street crimes in other parts of the province, the government is also considering the replication of Dolphin Squad in five other big cities of Punjab as well. It is hoped that the Punjab government’s initiative to have an agile and modern patrolling police unit in Lahore would certainly help improve police culture and provide sense of security to the general public. Moreover, the Dolphin Force would continue chasing the criminals in the metropolitan city of Lahore with a spirit to make the lives and properties of Lahoris more secure and safe.
