A four-member inquiry committee on Tuesday finalised a report about the death of transgender activist Alisha.
The report stated that the critically injured Alisha died after neglect and discrimination by the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) staff. The committee will present its report to the provincial government.
Alisha, a 23-year-old transgender activist and coordinator of Trans Action Alliance, was shot six times by a man in Peshawar.
While the victim bled, the doctors could not decide for an hour whether to admit her to the men’s or women’s ward. When they finally decided on the men’s ward, Trans Action protested and had her shifted to the women’s ward, where other women apparently complained.
The committee was formed on Khyber Pakhtunkha Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak’s order to present a report over Alisha’s death within three days.
The police had already arrested prime suspect of the murder Fazal Gujjar on Sunday.
