A pair of African lions has been added to the Marghazar Zoo by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for the amusement of visitors from across the country.

It should be mentioned that the two lions have been brought to the Marghazar Zoo under the Exchange of Birds and Animals Programme from the Punjab government. Furthermore, negotiations for the provision of a female elephant with a competent forum of Sri Lankan government are at final stages. It is expected that an elephant will also be added very soon.

The veterinary doctor of the zoo has been directed to take proper care of food and health of animals of the zoo. The  Zoo administration has been directed to submit recommendations for further improvement in the facilities being provided here in order to make Maghazar Zoo a state-of-the-art facility. The CDA invites schools and children of the city to visit the zoo in the school vacations and is starting a Facebook campaign to name these two lions.
