The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday dismissed a petition seeking directions to stop the auction of property of Zobia Rubab Malik, wife of Asim Malik, the main accused in the Future Concern fraud case.

Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza heard the petition filed by Zobia Malik against the special judge central’s decision to auction her 400-kanal piece of land in Sargodha.

Zobbia’s lawyer told the court that his client had no connection with the Future Concern case but she had been declared an absconder without fulfilling the legal requirements. He contended that the property of an absconder could be seized, but it could not be auctioned as per law. He pleaded with the court to stay the auction of his client’s property. However, a law officer apprised the court that all legal requirements were fulfilled for the purpose. He requested the court to dismiss the petition.

The court, after hearing arguments of both parties, dismissed the petition and upheld the orders of the special judge central.

It is pertinent to mention here that in 2012, on the directions of the Lahore High Court, the FIA registered over 180 cases of fraud, human trafficking involving billions of rupees, against Asim and Zobia.
