An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday sent Uzair Baloch, the ringleader of the Lyari gang war, to jail on a 14-day judicial remand in a case pertaining to possessing explosives substance.
The former chief of the banned People’s Aman Commitee (PAC) was produced before the administrative judge of the ATC amid tight security.
While sending Uzair Baloch to jail on a judicial remand for 14 days, the court directed the investigators to submit the challan within two weeks.
According to the papers submitted to the court, the explosives substance including five rockets, one LMG and six awan bombs were recovered from Tanker Chowrangi, Garden are on the identification of the accused. The case FIR 67/2016 was registered under section 4/5 of the Explosives Act read with Anti Terrorism Act, 1997.
In January this year, the Rangers claimed to have arrested Uzair from the outskirts of Karachi while he was trying to enter the city.
The Lyari gangsters’ head remained in the custody of Abu Dhabi police for almost three months as he fled there to avoid arrest after the launch of the Karachi operation. However, it is still unclear when and how he managed to escape from the custody of the UAE authorities.
Uzair was nominated and wanted by law enforcers in several cases of murder, attempted murder and extortion registered at different police stations.
