Members of civil society, social activists and political leaders gathered in Mirpurkhas city on Saturday to demand an enquiry into the alleged rape and murder of an eleven-year old boy in Hyderabad.
The son of Hindu doctor Chetan Kumar was found dead in a swimming pool inside Hyderabad Club on April 13. Family members claim the boy was deliberately thrown into the pool to cover up sexual abuse and murder.
Protesters gathered on the call of the Hindu Welfare Panchayat Pakistan demanded that the Sindh government order a probe into the alleged murder of the boy.
Former MNA Kiswan Chand Parwani, former MPA Lachhman Karmani, social activist Dr Ikram and others, while speaking to the press, contended that the young boy did not drown but was raped and then thrown into the pool. Hindu Panchayat activist Mr Karmani alleged that boy was killed after being raped.
Chetan, the father of the victim, deplored that the boy went missing for more than an hour despite the tight security inside the club and said that his son’s body was later found ‘bearing torture marks on his face’ floating in the four-foot-deep swimming pool in the club.
Chetan claimed that despite repeated requests, the club’s administration was not providing him access to the CCTV footage from April 13 and was not helping solve the case.
The members of the Hindu Panchyat from Tharparkar, Umerkot, Badin and other districts assured Dr Chetan of their support and warned of protests across the province if justice is not delivered.
