Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf workers on Sunday accused the adviser to chief minister on prison affairs Qasim Khan Khattak of corruption and of taking no interest in resolving people’s problems.
Speaking at a workers’ convention at Takht-i-Nusrati, they said despite being one of the richest districts in the country in terms of mineral wealth, the people of Karak were deprived of even basic facilities of life.
PTI activist Mansoor Khattak regretted that the people of Malik Qasim’s native Jehangeri union council were facing acute water shortage. He said the lawmaker instead of resolving problems had ‘indulged’ in corruption.
The mineworkers took out a rally on Sunday against the increasing prices of daily use commodities.
Addressing the participants of the rally in Bahaderkhel area, the miners association’s district president Malik Naveed Khattak and general secretary Taj Khan alleged that the government had failed to arrest the price hike. They said despite being an agriculture country the people of Pakistan were facing the worst hike in prices of food items.
They said successive governments failed to plan policies aimed at people’s welfare. The speakers said the low-paid employees and workers of different industries and mines were finding it difficult to make both ends meet amid price hike.
The speakers cautioned that if the government didn’t take serious measures to control the price hike then the people would be left with no option but to take to the streets.
