CM Shehbaz meets Exim Bank delegation

A delegation headed by Exim Bank of America Chairman Fred P. Hochberg called on Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Monday.

Matters regarding trade, economy and investment in the development projects were discussed in the meeting. The delegation expressed interest in investing in Pakistan. American Ambassador in Pakistan David Hale was also on the occasion.

Talking to the delegation, the chief minister said that work is being carried out speedily on energy projects including generation of power with alternative resources in various areas of Punjab to meet the demand for energy. He said that projects of public welfare and infrastructure development are also being implemented expeditiously.

The chief minister said that there is a vast scope of investment in Pakistan and maximum facilities are being provided to investors. He said that the pace of economic development has accelerated in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He said that international monetary institutions and different countries are giving preference to Pakistan for investment due to which new business and employment opportunities are being created. He said that due to stable financial policies of the government, the process of trade and economic development has accelerated in the country which will leave a positive impact on the national economy.

The CM said that the focus of the economic policies of the government is prosperity of the common man and all out measures are being taken in this regard. He also referred to the efforts for the achievement of the targets of socio-economic development and provision of better facilities in social sectors.

The Exim Bank chairman expressed interest in investment in Pakistan and praised the government policies for economic development and stability.

The American delegation included American Consul General Zachary Hakenrider, American Trade Finance Vice President Annette B Maresh, Senior Vice President Trade Finance Scot. P. Schloegel, Director Scheduling Christopher M. Semenas and American diplomats while Federal Secretary Water & Power Muhammad Younis, Secretary Economic Affairs Division Tariq Bajwa, the Planning & Development chairman, provincial Energy secretary, NPPCL CEO and DG LDA were also present on the occasion.

Separately, talking to a delegation of PML-N lawmakers, Shehbaz said that Pakistan is moving towards peace, progress and prosperity under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

He said that besides public welfare projects, work is also being carried out on projects of power generation with speed and transparency.
