Commissioner Rawalpindi has accorded approval for purchase of arms and appointment of security guards in 225 boys and girls schools in Rawalpindi.
Approval has been given after last warning issued by Chief Minister (CM) Punjab for ensuring appointments of security guards equipped with state of the art arms in all schools of Rawalpindi like other districts of Punjab till April 10.
Sources said that former employees of army and Rangers have been called in the office of EDO Education on April 9 in connection with appointment of security guards.
Candidates will be selected, keeping in view their service tenure and experience of handling arms and they will be imparted one day training on arms handling.
Sources said every school will be provided state of the art automatic gun valuing Rs 1,50,000. Schools will purchase weapons through school councils.
