Islamabad High Court (IHC) while maintaining the objections raised by registrar office has rejected contempt of court plea against Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

A single bench of IHC comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani took up the case for hearing Tuesday.

The petitioner Shahid Orakzai took the plea before the court that the name of Pervez Musharraf accused in high treason case was removed from ECL under the directives of the interior minister. On the other hand, the interior minister in his statement shifted the responsibility of Pervez Musharraf’s departure to the Supreme Court (SC). Interior minister said that Pervez Musharraf will be brought back to Pakistan through Interpol. The statements given by the interior minister in joint session of the parliament are on the record.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked the matters which were debated in the parliament cannot be discussed in the court.

Shahid Orakzai said the objection raised by registrar office is incorrect that the high court is not the proper forum for this petition. IHC has previously heard petitions pertaining to the high treason case and given its ruling.

The court while upholding registrar office’s objections dismissed the petition.
