The schedule for the literary conference Afkaar-e-Taaza Festival was released by the Centre for Governance and Policy at IT University. The event will be held from April 1-3, 2016 at Alhamra Cultural Complex Gaddafi Stadium.
Dr Umar Saif, Vice Chancellor, noted: “This programme exhibits our commitment to the intellectual revival of Pakistan. By bringing world renowned scholars to Pakistan, we are giving our people an opportunity to interact with these great minds, in a rigourous yet accessible format.”
Dr Saif pointed out that the conference features scholars like Professor Faisal Devji, the Director of the Centre for Asian Studies at the University of Oxford and Professor Peter Frankopan from Oxford, who’s book on the Silk Roads has made it to the New York Times Best Seller List.’ “Furthermore, the event will also feature the renowned expert on Afghanistan and the Middle East, Professor Amin Saikal, who is the Director of the Arab and Islamic Studies at the Australian National University, and Sir William Blackburne, a judge from England and Wales High Court, and Professor Catherine Asher, an expert on South Asian Art,” Dr Saif informed.
The three day event, will also feature luminaries from all over Pakistan which include Najam Sethi, Senator Sherry Rehman, Dr Ishrat Hussain, Dr Atta-ur-Rehman, Aziz Ahmed Khan, Professor Naazish Ataullah, Dr Nafisa Shah, Mr Kamran Lashari, Zahid Hussain, Ayaz Amir, Dr Ayesha Siddiqa, Dr Wiqar Ali Shah, Saleem Safi, Dr Moeed Pirzada among others.
