Ronda Rousey, the UFC superstar who seems to have the world at her feet with Sports Illustrated covers, “Saturday Night Live” hosting gigs and upcoming movie roles, shocked everyone when she told Ellen DeGeneres last week that she considered killing herself suffering her first professional defeat to Holly Holm in UFC 193.

Holm, the fighter whose left leg sent Rousey’s psyche into a tailspin, offered her thoughts on the subject to USA .

“I do hope that obviously she never really entertains that,” Holm said. “I think the best thing really, like I said, my advice is probably (not that good), I’ve never been there before mentally, but I think it’s always a good thing to surround yourself with people you trust and people that can support you and care about you.”

Though Holm hasn’t suffered defeat in her pro career with a 10-0 record (3-0 UFC), she did lose twice during her 38-fight boxing career and once in her brief three-fight kickboxing career before entering mixed martial arts. And after those loses, she just faces the music.

“For me, I would never get that low after a loss,” Holm said. “Maybe I’m a selfish person, but I just think I want to get back and win for me. It’s frustrating. You deal with a lot of doubt in your mind and maybe I’m not as good as I thought I was. Obviously those are the questions that go through your mind, but you have to be honest with yourself and think, ‘Maybe not. Obviously you need to get better because this fighter was better than you tonight.’”

Holm will defend her bantamweight title against Miesha Tate on March 5 in UFC 196. The winner of that fight will likely face Rousey in her return to the octagon.
