An anti-corruption court in Karachi issued arrest warrants for Sindh Education and Literacy Secretary Dr Fazlullah Pechuho on Friday for not appearing before the court in a case pertaining to corruption and misuse of authority in his department.
Headmaster Mohammad Mithal had filed a plea against Pechuho at the anti-corruption court. However, after the Sindh secretary failed to appear in person and respond to several written notices, the court issued warrants for his arrest.
Meanwhile, Pechuho said he was not aware of any such warrants, adding that he was ready to appear before the court if he was ordered to do so.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) initiated a crackdown in the Sindh Education Department upon evidence of huge financial misappropriation.
Issueing of arrest warrants have become ceremonial in our country. Many have been issued against MQM leaders but none arrested. Can someone believe that the brother-in-law of Mr 10% would ever be arrested ? Is it any serious or just a formality ?
