Contaminated water is causing spread of diseases like diarrhea, hepatitis, polio, lead poisoning in various parts of the city.
In Zafar Colony Blocks F, A, B, Rehmanpura, Gillwala, New Satellite Town, Manzoor Colony, Mujahid Colony old and rusted water supply pipes are passing through the sewerage main holes owing to which contaminated and polluted water was being supplied to the residents.
Citizens said that they time and again had complained the authorities of Tehsil Municipal Administration for getting their problem resolved but no heed was paid to their issue. They urged the authorities concerned to take practical steps to provide them pure drinking water.
It may be mentioned that testing laboratories seven years back had declared the water being supplied to them through pipes contaminated and injurious for human health.
When contacted, TMA Administrator Farooq Rasheed Sandhu said that at present they were running short of funds. However, he said, they soon would replace the old and defective water supply pipes with the new ones.
The water is polluted in Sargodha. It is polluted in Multan and more polluted in Karachi. The people of Thar don't even have the polluted water.
