The National Assembly Tuesday passed a resolution, demanding the government to take special measures to promote religious harmony.
The resolution was moved by Sheikh Salahuddin.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf said that the government was arranging gatherings of people belonging to different faiths in the federal capital for this cause.
Followers of different religion, he said, were free to worship according to their faith in Pakistan. At least 10 festivals of religious minorities were being celebrated at official level, he added.
Qari Muhammad Yusuf, Asiya Nasir, Abdul Rashid Godil, Sahibzada Tariqullah, Shazia Sobia and Maulana Qamaruddin also participated in the debate.
Meanwhile, a call attention notice pertaining to hepatitis was raised in the house.
Parliamentary Secretary for National Services Dr Darshan said that the government was working to eradicate the cause. A programme in this regard, was already being run under the chief ministers’ supervision as it was transferred by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to the provinces in accordance with 8th constitutional amendment.
Treatment using tablets had been replaced injections leading to economical and affordable prices, he added.
Answering a question, he said that health cards had been distributed among patients in the federal capital under PM’s National Health Programme.
