Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar has taken notice of a case in which a fake doctor, Shahid Masood, of a famous private hospital in the capital allegedly caused the death of a woman, a mother of three, it was revealed on Sunday.
The minister ordered an inquiry against the doctors and the hospital administration.
According to media reports, a doctor of a private hospital in Blue area carried out a lipotherapy of Mehwish Jabeen, wife of Hafeez Ahmed to reduce her weight. The doctor assured Jabeen of successful operation by presenting a fake group of doctors. Operation was carried out on October 10, 2015 with an expense of Rs 284,000. The patient was sent home after three days.
However, after returning home, Mehwish developed a severe cough as the doctor kept assuring her of recovery. She was admitted to PIMS after reaching a critical stage. It was later revealed that the incisions made during the operation had not been stitched properly, due to which blood had advanced to her lungs. Mehwish fought on for over a month before she died on November 28, 2015.
Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has taken notice of the issue and has sought the license of the private hospital and degrees of all the doctors working there.
“I have done the operation but I don’t want to talk about it,” the news agency quoted the fake doctor as saying when he was contacted regarding the incident.
PMDC Registrar Dr Hafeezudin said that a file had been submitted in PMDC in this regard whereas other proceeding would be carried out as per law.
Action should taken against fake doctors through out Pakistan .
