Dr Asim Hussain on Friday said that he does not know his crime until date. The alleged terror facilitator denied all charges against him once again, while casually talking to the media before a court hearing in Karachi’s anti terrorism court (ATC).
The ATC adjourned the hearing of the case until January 19 after re-issuing non-bailable arrest warrants against the accused.
The court expressed resentment that the nominated persons had not been arrested. The judge stated that the accused was appearing on TV screens and talking to media.
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Waseem Akhtar, Saleem Shehzad, Anees Qaimkhani and Qadir Patel while hearing the case against Dr Asim Hussain.
Hussain was presented before the ATC where the investigation submitted its report pertaining to arrests of fugitives in the case.
The report states that while Usman Moazzam has been apprehended efforts are being made to nab four others.
The investigation officer presented a list of witnesses in the case. The total number of witnesses according to the list is 17. The court included the name of a judicial magistrate in the witnesses list after objection from Rangers official.
Dr Asim complained about pain in his gums and requested the court to let him visit a hospital. The court ordered authorities concerned to get the accused checked by the doctor he went to the last time.
The alleged terror facilitator was given in National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) custody for another 14 days on January 5 after his earlier remand expired. The prosecutor had maintained that 80 per cent of Dr Asim’s transactions had been traced.
A NAB official had requested the court to grant an extension in the remand to complete the investigations.
The former minister is facing a terror case in the ATC and a corruption case in the accountability court. A case was registered against Dr Asim in North Nazimabad Police Station in November 2015 for treating terrorists and target killers in Dr Ziauddin Hospital.
