Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday reiterated a zero-tolerance stance for terrorist organisations and directed military officials to continue efforts until the prevalence of sustainable peace and security in the country.
The COAS said this while presiding over the Corps Commander Conference, held at General Headquarters, said a statement issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Apart from discussing matters of professional interest, the participants of the conference had a detailed review of the overall internal and external security situation in the country, emerging geo-strategic environment and its relevance to Pakistan.
The top military leadership was also briefed in detail about prevailing and emerging threats, ongoing operations of security/intelligence agencies for breaking the nexus between terrorists and their support mechanism across the country, said the statement.
Speaking to the forum, the COAS expressed his complete satisfaction over the progress of Operation Zarb-e-Azb and operational preparedness of the Pakistan Army.
“COAS paid rich tributes to officers and men involved in operation for their sacrifices and successes.”
While lauding recent phenomenal successes of Security/Intelligence agencies in Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) for breaking the terror nexus across the country, Gen Raheel reiterated zero-tolerance for terrorist organisations and directed all concerned to continue focused efforts “till we achieve sustainable peace and security”.
As an Indian, I appreciate the comments given by Raheel sharif. Honestly speaking I have personally become fan of Raheel sharif. I wish he would act with no mercy against Hafiz saeed and lakhvi and other terrorist outfits who hurt India. RIP to 26/11,Peshawar children and pathankot and all innumerable soldiers who died on both sides coz of terrorists. Show 1 step of friendship and I promise India will move 100 steps towards friendship.
Let us not be naive, he (Pakistani army) is only interested in eliminating those 'bad-snakes' in their backyard that come to bite them now, they want to leave and use 'the so-called good-snakes' that do harm to the neighbors!
No. that time's past. There is an evident switch in Pakistani policy and everyone seems to understand that.
Action against every group is going on. those who are still left will face accountability soon. these actions/operations are done in phases (just like every other project in the professional world). You cannot start action against everyone at the same time, it's an understood fact.
– Pakistani Taliban based in Waziristan were the most urgent and dangerous to eliminate, hence they faced it first.
– Malik Ishaq was recently killed in Punjab in a Police Raid.
– Karachi's situation is way much better.
– Baluchistan is pacific since a long time now.
– Suicide bombings in the country are at an all time low.
Hold your horses brother, good times will definitely come for the whole region.
May you be right! But we have yet to see anything positive from the ary as far as the non-state & state actors doing what they did in Pathankot!!!
Well done General keep up the good work & please don't be dictated by the Zionist Wahabi Arabia or the two faced Zionist Yanks.
We wants same rule for both poor and rich, nothing more. General Raheel Sharif.
