LHC accepts senior citizen’s bail

The Lahore High Court (LHC) Monday accepted the bail of a senior citizen, who had been implicated in a fake terrorism case.

A two-member LHC bench headed by Justice Mazahir Ali Naqvi heard the case. Counsel for the petitioner, Mian Abdul Rehman, 65, said that the local police had registered a fake case against the senior citizen under terrorism acts. He said that his client had no links the incident.

Upon this court accepted the bail of the senior citizen and issued his bail orders.

Meanwhile, Lahore High Court judge Mazahir Ali Naqvi rejected a bail plea of an accused in the smuggling case. The counsel for the accused, Yousuf, told the court that Faisalabad police registered a case against his client days after the sample of narcotics was sent to laboratory.

When Deputy Prosecutor Mian Awais Mazhar told the court that 79 kg of narcotics was recovered from the suspect, court rejected his bail plea.

Meanwile, The Lahore High Court (LHC) has taken up bail pleas of five suspects accused of lynching two Muslim youths in the Youhanaabad area.

When a two-member LHC bench headed by Justice Muzahar Ali Akbar Naqvi took up bail pleas of two accused, Faisal and Haroon, here on Monday, counsel for the accused took the plea that police arrested their clients despite having no evidence of their involvement in lynching the Muslims youths alive. Therefore the accused should be released on bail, the counsel prayed.

The counsel told the court that bail pleas of three suspects, Asif, Rafaqat and Aslam Sahotra, were also pending in the court and they should also be heard the same time.

The court while issuing directives for the bail applications of all accused persons sent the files to the LHC chief justice.
