Govt endeavouring to rid country of polio: president

President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the government is endeavouring to rid the country of Polio to protect the children from this crippling disease.

He was talking to a delegation of the Association of Physicians of Pakistani origin of North America in Lahore. The president said the government will launch an awareness campaign for immunization and eradication of Hepatitis-C and Diabetes.

He impressed upon the delegation to apprise the international community that the scourge of Polio has so far not been eliminated due to strife in Afghanistan and FATA, for which Pakistan bears no responsibility. The president called upon the delegates to contribute in promoting modern research in the medical field in Pakistan.
