Flood damages PTDC Bamburet motel in Kalash valley

A heavy flood on Thursday completely damaged eight rooms of the PTDC motel at Bamburet, Kalash Valley when the river changed its course and flowed through the building.

The staff members, all materials, including beds and mattresses etc., were timely vacated from the rooms.

The water and electricity supply was partially damaged.

Being the initiative of present government’s previous tenure under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for the promotion of tourism in far flung areas of Pakistan, 23 motels throughout the country were constructed under PSDP and the PTDC Bamburet Motel was constructed under this development scheme.

Under this program, an estimated Rs 17 million were spent on PTDC Motel at Bamburet in 1997 with 16 rooms and facilities to help the increasing number of visitors, who come from across the world to meet and study the social and ethnic lifestyle of the Kalash people.
