Speakers at workshop expressed that standardized education system is the only way promote peace and social cohesion beyond in the country heading towards prosperity and a bright future.
To achieve this, they said, a policy based on a concrete strategy should be formulated with collaboration of government institutions, educationists, civil society, politicians, media and other stake holders.
The workshop titled, “Education: an Advocacy Niche for Peace” was organized by `South Asia Partnership -Pakistan’s Citizen First’ to develop a strategy for standardized education system for promoting peace.
Students from different schools and colleges from 15 districts of Punjab, Sindh and KP participated in the consultative processes.
Sharing her views, Shabnam Rasheed, national program manager and Shakeel Ibrar regional program coordinator SAP-Pakistan highlighted the importance of educating youth through standardized education system for promoting peace and social cohesion in our society.
They emphasized on a practical strategy by formulating policy frame work and action plan for education in Pakistan, with the participation and consultation of students. Shabnam Rasheed emphasized on the need for an enabling environment for students in education institutions.
Participants also recommended vision and goals for the standardized education system for peace building; inter faith harmony and social cohesion in education standards.
