The Lahore High Court Thursday allowed 14 petitions filed by underage students seeking directions for their registration of class 9 with different boards.
Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah heard the petitions filed by Robina Bibi, Syeda Ghazal Gillani and other students.
During the hearing, the petitioners’ counsel submitted that intermediate and secondary boards of Lahore, Gujranwala and Faisalabad had imposed ban on registration of 9th class students who were under 12 years of age. He said that under the ban, the boards also refused to register the petitioners for being underage.
He contended that the ban imposed on the registration of underage student was unconstitutional and illegal. He pleaded the court to direct relevant boards for their registration.
However, the court was apprised on behalf of the boards that underage students could not be registered under the examination policy.
The court after hearing arguments directed boards to register the petitioner-students.
