Cop among four killed, five injured in violence

As many as two people were killed and five others injured in separate incidents of firing on Saturday.

A man, Bheem, 45, son of Pahlwan, resident of Bhens Colony, was shot dead while another man, Usman, aged about 30, son of Ramzan, resident of Korangi, was shot at and wounded by unknown armed men near Hamdard University in Manghopir.

The deceased and injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for an autopsy and treatment, respectively. A man, Rashid, 35, son of Yousuf, resident of New Karachi, was gunned down by unknown armed men near Sindhi Hotel in New Karachi. The body was moved to ASH for an autopsy.

According to rescue officials, two teenagers identified as, Shehryar, 19, and Safdar, 20, were shot at and injured by unknown armed men near Soldier Bazaar. They were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for treatment. In another incident, Nasir, aged about 57, son of Gul Khan, was injured by unknown gunmen in Patel Para area. He was taken to the CHK for treatment.

A woman, Hazrah, 50, wife of Ramzan, resident of Machar Colony, was injured by armed dacoits when she offered resistance to them near Machar Colony in Mauripur. The injured was taken to CHK for treatment.

In Patel Para locality, unidentified miscreants opened indiscriminate fire killing a cop identified as Sajid while injuring another and fled the scene. The body was shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities. In another fire exchange between two criminal groups at Northern Bypass, a member of robber’s gang was killed while another belonging to opponent group sustained wounds. The body and the injured were shifted to a hospital.

BOY ELECTROCUTED TO DEATH

A minor boy electrocuted to death within the jurisdiction of Garhi Yasin police station on Saturday.

Noor Hassan Mahar, 10, resident of village Bhambhehar, was playing at home when he came in contact with an electric wire. As a result, he suffered severe electric shocks and died on the spot.

Reliable source said the boy was a student of 5ht class. Area police reached the scene and handed over the body to his heirs after conducting a postmortem examination at a nearby hospital. Later, he was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard after offering funeral prayers.
