City police arrested 190 proclaimed offenders (POs), 896 court absconders (CAs) and 143 gangsters during the month of October and recovered more than Rs 6.1 million from them, it was revealed on Thursday.
DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf had directed the police officials to implement National Action Plan by utilizing their full energies to curb crimes in the city and arrest criminals involved in unlawful activities.
Following the directive, divisional SPs expedited their efforts to take action against criminals and arrested 190 POs, 896 CAs including A and B categories.
Police also recovered two kalashnikoves, 19-rifles, 35-guns, 247-revolvers and pistols, 01 carbine, four daggers and 1,977 bullets from the nabbed criminals.
During the month, 299 cases were registered against 299 accused for having illicit weapons, 430 against drug pushers, 78 against gamblers and 488 cases against 541 violators of laws.
Police also arrested 430 drug pushers and 585 gamblers besides recovering 45.702 kg heroin, 114.401 kg hashish, 1 kg opium, 2,605 bottles of liquor and gambling money of about Rs 0.4 million.
