Director Gauri Shinde will soon start working on her second project starring Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles and the filmmaker says the story will not show a conventional romance.
Shinde, 41, whose debut film English Vinglish was widely appreciated, wants to maintain the suspense on the chemistry her lead actors will be sharing in the yet-untitled project to be produced by Karan Johar.
“Let’s wait and watch. It won’t be as typical as one expects. A man and woman to be together,” she said when asked about the relationship the protagonists will have in the film.
Bhatt, 22, earlier said that she feels intimidated acting with Khan.
Shinde thinks that’s a good thing. “We should all be intimidated with each other,” she said.
The director finds herself fortunate to get the 49-year-old Happy New Year star and the Highway actress on board for her film.
“I don’t know how it happened. I wrote the script and I got lucky [with casting],” Shinde said.
“There are many people who are involved in a kind of work [that] perhaps the country and people of the nation are unaware of. So, it would be a wonderful idea to pick them and provide a platform to them to introduce them to the rest of the world, introduce the kind of work they are doing and then celebrate their work in public.
