A Full Court meeting was held Thursday in the Supreme Court of Pakistan to welcome the new Chief Justice Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and to recognize the services of Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany as Judge, Supreme Court of Pakistan who is going to lay down the robes of his office on October 12.
Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Senior most Judge of the Supreme Court congratulated the CJP on assuming the highest judicial office and said that under his guidance the institution will flourish and process of administration of justice will further be improved.
Deliberating on the issue of institution and disposal of cases in Supreme Court the Full Court noted that during the period from March 16 to October 3 the Court decided 6,717 cases against the institution of 10,580 cases, leaving total pendency of 26,754 cases.
The Full Court observed that there is rising trend in institution of cases therefore, measures be taken to reduce the backlog of the cases. The Full Court discussed in detail different ways and means for effective functioning of the Court so that dispensation of justice can further be improved.
The Full Court under the Chairmanship of the Chief Justice Mr. Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali was attended by Mr. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Mr. Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Mr. Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany, Mr. Justice Amir Hani Muslim, Mr. Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Mr. Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry, Mr. Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Mr. Justice Sh. Azmat Saeed, Mr. Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rahman, Mr. Justice Mushir Alam, Mr. Justice Dost Muhammad Khan, Mr. Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Mr. Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Mr. Justice Maqbool Baqar.
