CDA seals six restaurants, food outlets

Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) Health Services Directorate has sealed six restaurants and food outlets and lodged First Information Reports (FIR) against the owners for providing substandard, adulterated and unhygienic food, and for the poor sanitary conditions of the premises.

The Directorate of Health Services carried out different operations across the city and sealed Lahore Restaurant, Chat Palace and Lahori Samosa Pokora at Peshawar Morr, Sector G-9 while Irum Restaurant, Bari Bari Restaurant and Ravi Restaurant located at Aabpara Market were also sealed for using non-branded and substandard food items. Moreover, sanitary conditions of these premises were not up to the required standards and the staff was also found to be unhealthy. CDA has lodged FIRs against the owners of these food outlets.

It is pertinent to mention that CDA had earlier arranged a training workshop, which was participated by more than 500 owners, mangers, chef and other staff of different hotels, restaurants, bakeries and other food outlets established in the city. CDA has constituted special teams, each team is being led by a health officer and comprises of two food inspector and food helpers. Teams have been directed to ensure strict action against the food vendors engaged in food adulteration and poor food practices.

The CDA chairman has directed the Health Services Directorate to take stern action against violators and ensure implementation of the Pure Food Ordinance 1960. He directed to utilise all available resources to ensure the availability of pure and hygienic food to the general public.
