As Eid-ul Azha nears, butchers in Islamabad have fixed rates for slaughtering sacrificial animals.
The rates have been fixed at Rs 2,000 for goat and sheep and Rs 5,000 for cows and other big animals including camels.
On the other hand, citizens have expressed their surprise over the unilateral decision of the butchers, who did not wait for official rates. Atif Ali, a resident of Aabpara said about the rates, “People are already displeased over increasing prices of sacrificial animals. The sudden increase in rates for slaughtering has put further burden on the masses.” He said that the local administration should fix the price instead of allowing butchers to fix it.
