Police on Sunday found the body of a teenage girl which bore marks of torture.
According to Sub Inspector Police Muhammad Ashraf, a passerby informed them about the presence of the teenager’s body outside Mayo Hospital’s morgue in the city.
Ashraf said that the body bore torture marks, with the fingers and hands containing bruises.
“Circumstantial evidence suggests the victim might have been tortured before her death,” he said adding that there were no signs she was strangled to death.
The body was moved to the morgue for autopsy. The police registered statements of eyewitnesses, collected evidence and sent them to a laboratory for examination.
Police said they were waiting for the results of the autopsy and had initiated a search for the family of the victim.
On July 22, Lahore police found body of a five-year-old boy who had gone missing on Eid from a pond in Shahdara area.
They said the deceased had disappeared from the premises of Jehangir’s Tomb which the family had come to see on July 20.
