The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered that the widow of lawyer Fayyaz Ahmed, who died in a target-killing incident, be provided with a job.
The court also asked that his three children be given free education and asked for speedy progress into his case.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Anwar Zaheer Jamali remarked, “The government gives Rs 2,500,000 or Rs 5,000,000 wherever it wills. Now the matter relates to a poor widow and her children and help should be provided. Where should the widow go for help, and who should she ask?”
A three-member bench of the SC presided over by CJP Anwar Zaheer Jamali on Monday took up for hearing a petition filed by the widow.
Punjab Additional attorney general (AAG) told the court that the Punjab government had paid Rs 500,000 each to family members of the victims of target killing.
The court adjourned the case until the last week of September.
