PM emphasises need to increase country’s exports

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif emphasized the need for enhancing exports, in a meeting of traders and industries representatives on Friday.

Speaking at a high-level meeting, attended by heads of chambers of commerce, representatives of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) and exporter groups, the premier said that increasing exports is the only way traders can bring revenue to the ‘ heavily indebted’ country.

“No country can make progress without enhancing its revenues besides we can only pay off our debts by increasing our resources,” the premier said.

The Prime Minister regretted that Pakistan lacks behind others countries of the region in exports, adding that “The country has not witnessed any growth in its exports over the past few years while other economies in South Asia have made remarkable progress.”

PM Nawaz assured the business community for redressing its issues, saying that PML-N government wanted to resolve issues of the said community, however, these could not be resolved in a single day and resources are required for it.

He went on to say that they have to make this sitting a fruitful.
